Our Church Mission
We believe that our mission was set by the command of our Lord and Savior in Matthew 28:18-20, known as the Great Commission.
And Jesus came and said to them, βAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.β
We are called to go into this world and to lead people broken by sin to follow Jesus Christ. Even a small local church must have a worldwide vision. To accomplish this, First Baptist is currently aligned with the Southern Baptist Convention and the American Baptist Churches, both of which have worldwide missions programs.
We help to support the more than 3500 around the world through the International Mission Board, thousands of missionaries in the United States and Canada through the North American Mission Board, and missions in Nebraska and Kansas through the Church Forward Network (Kansas Nebraska Baptist Convention) and Omaha/Northeast Nebraska missions through the Heartland Church Network.
We give regular support to several other missionaries directly.
Our pastor travels to Africa twice a year, where he does evangelistic ministries with the Essing people in the Casamance region of Southern Senegal.
At First Baptist, we believe in world mission with our actions, not just our words.
